Phoenix Environmental, Inc. is a Michigan Corporation formed in early 1998.   The company offers a wide variety of fuel management, energy, and environmental services and equipment to industrial, municipal and commercial entities primarily in Michigan.

Casey J. Smith

Casey J. Smith is President and founder of Phoenix Environmental, Inc.   Mr. Smith is a 1988 graduate of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a B.S in Geological Engineering. He holds several OSHA certifications as well as numerous equipment installation and repair certifications. Mr. Smith is a Registered Professional Geologist in the State of Tennessee.

Prior to starting Phoenix Environmental, Mr. Smith held the positions as; a Geophysicist in West Africa, a Hydrogelogist across much of the United States and most notably as the Great Lakes District Manager for Professional Service Industries (PSI).  His duties with PSI included Environmental P & L responsibility and Technical oversight for numerous offices in MI, OH, PA, WV, IN, WI and KY. 

 
   


Warren Van Dongen

Warren van Dongen is a project manager responsible for scoping, bidding and the execution of projects ranging from storage tank integrity testing, storage tank systems installation (both traditional design/bid/build and design/build) to remediation system installation and operation. Mr. Van Dongen is a 1990 graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.S. in Resource Planning.  Mr. Van Dongen holds is an Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the State of Michigan, an Underground Storage Tank Cathodic Protection Tester and Aboveground Tank Inspector through the Steel Tank Institute (STI).

Mr. van Dongen has more than 18 years of professional experience with hazardous waste management including planning and implementation of remedial investigations. Tank management experience includes regulatory, technical and managerial aspects of underground and aboveground bulk storage systems. This includes evaluation of potential environmental risks for various storage systems including spill prevention, tank and piping integrity tests, review of technical specifications and design of state-of-the-art bulk storage systems. Prior to joining Phoenix Environmental, Mr. van Dongen held project manager positions with engineering consulting firms in southeast Michigan.

 

 

 

Michael D. Miller

Michael D. Miller is the Renewable Energy/Energy Management lead responsible for scoping, bidding, and execution of renewable energy, energy management, and remediation system installation and operation.  Mr. Miller is a 1996 graduate of Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Geological Engineering.  Mr. Miller is a 1999 graduate of Wayne State University with a M.S. in Civil Engineering.  He holds several OSHA certifications, is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) through the U.S. Green Building Counsel, and a Certified Energy and Environmental Manager (CEEM) through Lawrence Technological University.  Mr. Miller is a Registered Professional Engineer and an Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator in the State of Michigan.    

Mr. Miller has more than 14 years of professional experience including renewable energy, energy management, environmental/remedial investigations, water treatment system operations and maintenance, and building decommissioning.  Prior to Phoenix Environmental, Mr. Miller held project engineer and project manager positions at engineering consulting firms in Southeast Michigan.
